As I looked for evidence of the birth of the next medium, I discovered the relationship of rhetoric and journalism. I am currently investigating media ecology as a critical perspective to explore the challenges facing emergent media and the practice and profession of journalism.

My dissertation, "Examining an Emergent Medium: A Case Study of the Development of the TimesUnion.com," chronicles the emergence of the next medium.
